As an inspiration and a foundation of our academic community, Baliqis A. Olukade brings a unique blend of passion, expertise, and dedication to the forefront of naturopathic medicine and neuroscience research.

 

Baliqis started her academic journey at the esteemed Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. Her insatiable thirst for knowledge propelled her further to achieve a Master's degree in Physiology, with a focus on Neuroscience Research Interest, from the same institution.

 

A testament to her scholarly excellence, Baliqis has been recognised on numerous occasions, including her participation and success in three sponsored International Brain Research Organization schools in Ghana, where she delved into Neuroscience, Neurobiology of Stress Symposium at the University of Ibadan, and is an alumna of the IBRO-Simons Computational Neuroscience Imbizo (isiCNI) in South Africa.

 

Serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Physiology at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Baliqis wears multiple hats. She is deeply involved in administrative duties, teaching, and groundbreaking neuroscience research. Her mentorships under Dr. Royhaan O. Folarin and Dr. Ifabunmi O. Osonuga have further enriched her expertise in Endo-Repro Physiology and neuroscience.

 

Baliqis's commitment to advancing the field of neuroscience is reflected in her active participation in several prestigious organisations, including the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), the Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA), Women in Neuroscience (WiN) Nigeria, and World Women in Neuroscience (WWN).

 

Baliqis's research interests is a demonstration of a dedicated scientist keen on exploring the fields of Behavior and Cognitive Aging, Computational Neuroscience, Individual Differences, and General Physiology. Her work aims to uncover the mysteries of the human brain and contribute to our understanding of neurological diseases and cognitive function throughout the lifespan.

 

As Baliqis continues her doctoral studies at the Medical Science Programme at Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida (USF) in the United States of America, her journey represents a blend of academic rigour, cutting-edge research, and a passionate commitment to improving healthcare outcomes.
